UK Dance Network Job listing - Independent Chair

UKDN are recruiting for the role of independent chair to guide and support the network of 30 member dance organisations over the next two years.  We are seeking a freelance culture professional who has excellent communication and facilitation skills, familiarity with the UK dance landscape and a commitment to inclusive leadership. 

The chair convenes and facilitates a monthly Zoom meeting for members and a monthly Zoom meeting with the Steering Group (five representatives from the UKDN member organisations).  The chair also leads on the scheduling, programming and facilitation of up to two in-person gatherings each year.

The Chair shapes the monthly and in-person meetings programme with the Steering Group, explores and approaches guest contributors. 

The time commitment is equivalent to 12 days per year on a flexible basis, plus up to a further two days per year for in-person gatherings.

The chair is independent so should not be substantively employed by any of its member organisations (a list can be found by scrolling down the homepage of this website).  This exemption does not include artists, producers or managers/consultants who may work with member organisations on an occasional freelance basis or under commission. 

Contract: Two-year freelance contract from November 2023, with possible extension by mutual agreement

Time commitment: Equivalent to 12 days per year plus up to a further two days per year for in-person gatherings 

Location: Based anywhere in the UK

Fee: £9,600 plus up to £1,600 for in-person days, over two years
