This World Book Day, award-winning dance company Made by Katie Green announces a far-reaching tour of over 40 libraries across the UK this year with two of its latest works created especially for children, The Story Detectives and SEED.
An engaging and interactive dance adventure for children aged 3-8 years, The Story Detectives follows Playful and Particular as they guide the young audience on a journey through the library, exploring different types of books, collecting letters, solving clues, and dancing together to uncover the ‘Most Important Story’.
Coinciding with the Great Big Green Week and this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, SEED takes a playful look at the positive impact nature has on our lives. Created for young audiences of all ages, especially those aged 18 months – 5 years, the performance follows Kid and Pinto, two ‘Seedologists’, as they embark on a journey through the four seasons with a mysterious seed that has appeared in the library.
Both performances are followed by optional workshops, designed to further stimulate curiosity and foster a passion for reading, dancing, and exploration of the world around us.
Led by Artistic Director Katie Green, Made by Katie Green is a contemporary dance company developing new ways of responding to museums, libraries, heritage sites and other extraordinary spaces through dance. Working collaboratively with a range of artists, it creates stories that bring the world around us to life in new ways, and engage a broad audience, including those who are new to dance.
Of The Story Detectives and SEED, Artistic Director Katie Green said: “I’m excited to bring these interactive dance performances to children across the UK. By creating new worlds in the familiar setting of libraries, we hope to ignite our young audiences’ imaginations, introduce them to the joy of dance, and deepen their connection to story-telling and nature in a fun, accessible, and engaging way.”
Tickets will be available for free or for a small donation depending on each location, with bookings encouraged. See www.madebykatiegreen.co.uk for more information about tour dates as they are added.
Made by Katie Green’s tour of The Story Detectives and SEED from 2025-26 is being supported financially using public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
