Step into Dance is a Royal Academy of Dance programme in partnership with the Jack Petchey Foundation, an organisation that empowers young people and widens their opportunities through grant giving and achievement recognition.

Established in 1920, the RAD was granted a Royal Charter in 1935.  The RAD is a registered charity, a higher education establishment and an awarding body.

About the role
Working closely with the Programme Manager and the Step into Dance (SiD) Team, you will develop and manage the delivery of events for the SiD programme including external events in line with SiD’s artistic vision. You will also maintain close ties with the Jack Petchey Foundation (JPF) to ensure that all events fulfil the joint mission of JPF and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).

As a Step Into Dance Events Manager, you will be:

• Representing the Step Into Dance programme
• Producing and delivering participation projects, including facilitating, managing venues and planning for the day
• Working with the Communications officer to ensure event promotion
• Monitoring and reporting on the budgeting, KPIs and financial statistics

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Experience of producing and managing public events
• Experience of working with professional theatres, venues and independent contractors
• Experience of working within and managing a budget to creatively maximise results for participants
• Working knowledge of relevant legislation for working with children and young people including safeguarding
•  Experience and/or knowledge of working with Secondary schools and youth organisations
• Knowledge of health and safety at public events, including risk assessments
• Enthusiasm and commitment to improving the lives of young people through the arts

We are passionate about providing a positive workplace culture. While time in our accessible London (Wandsworth / Battersea) office will be required, we operate a hybrid model of in-person and remote working. Due to the nature of the RAD’s work, the successful candidate will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Applications which do not include a full employment history, and reference details will not be taken forward to the shortlisting stage.

The post you are applying for is classed as having a high degree of contact with children and involves ‘regulated activity’. As such it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
