The Dance Atikk Christmas Tour of the Care Homes

What a fantastic week the dancers from Kendal dance school, The Dance Atikk, had.

The dancers from The Dance Atikk danced their Christmas fluffy socks off to spread a little Christmas cheer and leave a little bit of dance glitter on the floor at each care home and residential home they visited during the first week of December.

The dancers found it a joy to perform their new dance made with love, a classical ballet number with dancers from 5 years to 16 years and music composed by the wonderful Michael, 94 years young.

Principal of the dance school, Lucy Everett, said, "This year had a little extra magic knowing that one kind and caring gentleman we visit every year took the time to create this for us, we [dancers and myself] are totally moved by this. Such an honour for us. I feel as a local dance school, teaching lots of local students from all different parts of Kendal, Grange, Windermere and beyond, it's important to share with our community and be thankful for what we have, and this time of year and this event is so special to us.

Over a decade of touring the care homes and the feeling of being so proud of all my students, it's heart-warming and keeps growing. To see them interact with all the residents, build confidence, take care of their team members and shine with talent always makes me smile with pride. Very proud teacher. Well done Atikkers."

The week long event was enjoyed by both dancers and residents alike with many positive comments as written below.

One Blackhall Croft resident said, "The girls are so clever to remember so many different moves, they always look so happy and smiley. This cheers us up. This is a highlight of our year."

"I love going into all the care homes at this time of year, it's so lovely to see everyone getting in the Christmas spirit, and I'm so proud to be part of the event, it's a yearly tradition!" - Dance Atitkk student

"I like dancing in all of the care homes for residents, they always look so happy, and it really does mean the start of Christmas." - Dance Atitkk student

"I like dancing at the care homes as it brings joy to the old people. I have done 3 shows this year, and it is my fifth year of doing them." - Dance Atitkk student
