MÓTUS Dance has been named the winner of the Arts & Heritage Award at the Milton Keynes Community Foundation's 40th Anniversary Charity Awards, recognising the organisation's outstanding contribution to making dance accessible, inclusive and inspiring across Milton Keynes.
The prestigious awards celebrate the charities, community groups and individuals making a significant difference across the city. MÓTUS Dance was recognised for its commitment to delivering high-quality dance experiences that improve wellbeing, foster creativity and connect communities, with a particular focus on ensuring people who may not otherwise access the arts can take part.
Cameron Ball, Artistic Director of MÓTUS Dance, said: "I am a firm believer that the benefits of dance are vast, and we have seen the positive change that our work has brought the communities of Milton Keynes. This award is testament to the hard work of our team, founders and many project partners that share our vision of bringing dynamic dance to Milton Keynes, particularly to areas or groups that do not regularly access artistic activity. I would like to thank them and the MK Community Foundation for their ongoing support."
The judges praised MÓTUS Dance's dedication to widening access to the arts and its positive impact across the local community.
Ian Revell, Chief Executive Officer of the Milton Keynes Community Foundation, said: "MÓTUS Dance is a truly deserving winner of the Arts & Heritage Award. This was an exceptionally strong category, with organisations from across Milton Keynes demonstrating the vital role that arts and heritage play in enriching lives and strengthening our communities. They impressed our judges with their dedication to making dance accessible, inclusive and inspiring for people across Milton Keynes. We are thrilled to see their contribution recognised and offer our heartfelt congratulations to the whole team."
MÓTUS Dance continues to expand its programme of performances, participation projects and community partnerships, using dance as a powerful tool to improve health, wellbeing and social connection for people of all ages and backgrounds.
The charity has upcoming collaborative projects planned with Arts Gateway, Offset Projects, Camphill MK and BucksVision. 90% of MÓTUS’ activity is offered completely for free, removing barriers to participation for the groups most in need.
Chris Bradley-Goodship, Chair of Trustees for MÓTUS Dance, accepted the award on behalf of the MÓTUS Dance team: "We are absolutely delighted that MÓTUS has been recognised with the MK Community Foundation's Arts and Heritage Award. On behalf of our trustees, staff, volunteers and participants, I would like to express our sincere thanks for this honour. This award reflects the passion, creativity and commitment of everyone involved with MÓTUS, and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and partners who make our work possible."
The recognition marks another important milestone for MÓTUS Dance and celebrates the collective efforts of its staff, artists, volunteers, participants, funders and partners in ensuring dance remains a vibrant and accessible part of life in Milton Keynes.
