MÓTUS Dance invites emerging and established dance artists in and around Milton Keynes to apply for the 2026–27 Helen Parlor Dance Bursary, a programme created to honour an influential champion of dance and to support the next generation of creative talent.
Now in its third year, the Helen Parlor Dance Bursary continues the legacy of Helen Parlor, whose vision, passion and commitment helped transform the dance landscape in Milton Keynes. Throughout her career, Helen championed professional dance practice, nurtured aspiring artists, brought high-quality performances to local audiences, and used the arts to inspire and connect communities.
Established in partnership with MK Community Foundation and Milton Keynes City Council, the bursary provides practical support for dancers and choreographers developing their artistic careers.
Applications are now open for the 2026–27 award, which includes a £1,000 cash bursary and two two-hour mentoring sessions with a choice of experienced dance artists, choreographers and producers. The mentoring element is designed to provide valuable industry insight, creative guidance and professional development opportunities tailored to the recipient's aspirations.
The bursary reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that dance continues to thrive in Milton Keynes while celebrating the lasting contribution Helen made to the city's cultural life.
Cameron Ball, Artistic Director of MÓTUS, said "Helen's belief in the power of dance to transform lives and strengthen communities continues to inspire us. The Helen Parlor Dance Bursary is about investing in artists, helping them develop their creative practice, build
