Job Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director with latitude for independent decision-making, the interim marketing support role will be responsible for overseeing our marketing and communications for a period of 6 months, in the absence of the Head of Communications. You will oversee activity across paid, owned and earned media and will work innovatively to raise Phoenix’s profile and build our brand.

Main responsibilities – what will you do day to day?

  • Work with the Executive Director to set audience development targets and advise and liaise with venue marketers to maximise ticket sales.
  • Lead on the creation and distribution of key collateral including monthly e-newsletters, merchandise and the company’s annual review.
  • Oversee content on the website.
  • Oversee content on our social media channels and work with the Communications Executive to develop a proactive content plan.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team to develop the company’s digital distribution and secure distribution deals for our filmed content.
  • Manage all press activity, including writing and distributing press releases and hosting press events.
  • Manage the marketing/press database to ensure the company has up to date contact details for media contacts and ensure Salesforce is updated with the details of key influencers to ensure those relationships can be effectively stewarded.
  • Coordinate and develop briefs for all marketing assets from print and e-marketing through to photography and videography.
  • Act as brand ambassador for the company, ensuring all communications assets and activities across the company are on brand, consistent in their tone and quality and produced to the highest standards possible.
  • Develop collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with dance development agencies, arts, community and educational organisations.
  • Provide regular reports on activity for the Board of Trustees and provide any other reporting requirements as needed for funders (including Arts Council England).
  • Provide exceptional line management to the Communications Executive, ensuring they have support, targets and development plans.
  • Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop funding proposals for potential supporters and to provide excellent and timely stewardship for existing supporters.
  • Act as a spokesperson and advocate for Phoenix as required, including securing speaking opportunities at conferences, nominating the company for relevant awards, and representing the company at local, regional and national network meetings.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to ensure proper records are maintained.
