About the Role of a Trustee

As a Trustee you will: 

  • have a strong understanding of the organisation’s values. 
  • possess a strategic vision and independent judgement. 
  • understand and accept legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship. 
  • be able to work effectively as a team member and to make decisions for the good of the organisation.
  • have a good, independent judgement and a willingness to be open and speak your mind.
  • contribute actively to the Board of Trustees role in giving strategic direction to the organisation, helping to set overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
  • ensure that the organisation complies with its governing documents, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
  • safeguard the reputation and values of the organisation, represent the organisation at functions and meetings when appropriate, and act as an ambassador for bbodance.
  • consider the safeguarding of children and vulnerable people at the heart of all the decisions you take.

Currently, we are particularly interested in recruiting Trustees with understanding, skills, and/or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Legal and Property 
  • Qualifications and Exams 
  • Finance and Admin 
  • Marketing, Social Media and Monetisation 
  • Fundraising

Trustees are elected to serve terms of 3 years and are generally expected to prepare for and attend 4 Board meetings a year (roughly one per quarter). They may also provide ad hoc support sought from the CEO and wider team from time to time, in relation to their areas of expertise. Reasonable expenses relating to meeting attendance will be reimbursed and meetings take place at the bbodance Headquarters in Wandsworth with the option to attend in person or online (via Teams or Zoom).
